Moved to Events step.

Ninja Trick House is powerful, but the cost of an action to move items meant that in practice it was often used only once, in the last round, to complete blueprints and maximise attraction scoring, which makes it a less engaging option than many others.

Moving the effect to the Events step and removing the action cost makes it more useful throughout the game as well.

Notes

If the only upgrades on the attraction area built-in upgrades, indicated by a second or third icon on the attraction card, then the built-in upgrade is demolished. Since a built-in upgrade can't be separated from the attraction it's built into, demolishing a built-in upgrade results in closing the attraction instead.

If the topmost upgrade has a price tag that isn't marked in coins, then there is no marked coin price, and it's not possible to gain coins for the demolition of that upgrade. The same is true for built-in upgrades, which have no separate build price of their own. The upgrade is still demolished, but a human insurance agency isn't able to pay out the construction cost if it's not marked in coins.

Reduced strength of effect.

Previously "Intrusion. Demolish the topmost two upgrades on the attraction closest to your park entrance and gain coins equal to their marked coin price".

Demolishing two upgrades gave rise to some questions in relation to sequencing their demolition. For example, can the Flagpole protect the second upgrade from demolition? There is an answer, but it requires a deep dive into esoteric rules territory. Reducing the damage to one upgrade removes the problem, and it's unlikely anyone will shed a tear.

It also gave an opportunity to reword using "nearest" instead of "closest". "Closest" is deprecated, just to keep the term visually distinct from "close".

Anonymous Complaint: adjusted for clarity.

Previously "close all ride attractions", now limited to "a type of ride attraction".

The original effect proved to be a bit more harsh than some players expected (especially those who built all-ride parks).

The new effect is limited to one type of ride attraction, without saying specifically "thrill ride" or "leisure ride", which means it can expand to work with future theme packs that include other types of rides without needing to be changed again.

Project Management

This event offers two separate options, each of which is optional. You can choose to use only one, or the other, or both.

This means it is possible to discard a blueprint if you wish, without being forced to take another.

Updates

ShowHide

Original printings of this card have a small variation in the wording of Project Management. It was previously written as:

  • "You may draw three Blueprint cards and choose one to keep. You may discard a Blueprint card you own."

Please use this wording, from the current version of the card, if there is any dispute about the intention:

  • "You may draw up to three Blueprint cards then choose one to keep. You may discard a blueprint you own."

The change to the first sentence allows the card to still be useful in the case when the Blueprint deck has fewer than three cards remaining. This was the intended functioning of the card, and wasn't expressed precisely enough in the original printing.

The change to the second sentence doesn't change the meaning. The wording was adjusted to bring it into the line with improvements in the wording guidelines for card rules.

Notes

Renovation

The effect doesn't stack with itself. You don't get half of half price if you play two copies of Renovation at once. This is because each one gives a discount based on the marked coin price, which is the number printed on the blue price tag on the card.

If you play two copies, you simply have two different ways to get half price.

The same goes for other effects that give half price. You can have multiple ways of accessing half price builds, through different abilities such as Building Contractor, but they can't be combined together.

The half-price discount only applies to cards that are priced in coins. Prices marked in Alien Influence or any other currency are not reduced.

You can use Renovation on any of your closed attractions, no matter how they came to be closed, whether it be through the event itself, another event played by a competitor, a City event card, etc.  The pin symbol and the wording makes Renovation an enduring effect throughout the entire round. Whenever you build an upgrade, if the attraction is closed, you can build on it for half the marked coin price.

Flurry of Activity / Demolition Order

Event

Illustration: Mr Cuddington

Notes

Flurry of Activity

Since the rule says "play them", not "you may play them", using the revealed Event cards is not optional. If you can play them, you must.

Cards can go unused only if they require some prerequisite or have some cost that you cannot meet. For example, if you have no attractions, you cannot build an upgrade for free.

Demolition Order: adjusted for clarity.

Previously "Choose an attraction in any park and demolish it. To play this event, you must also discard one Event card from your hand for each ribbon icon to be demolished."

The rule effect wasn't changed at all, but the wording was rewritten.

This was changed with the aim of reducing confusion, and removing an exception to the order in which rules were stated. The previous version has the cost to play  written after the event's rule. The new version puts the cost to play before the event's rule, like all other cost-to-play statements.

Extra Insurance

Resource

Illustration: Mr Cuddington

Theme:Quantity

Notes

The test for whether this effect applies is straightforward - would the item have been demolished without that event being played? If not, then the demolition is the result of the event, so Extra Insurance applies.

There's a distinction between "was demolished *by* an event" and "was demolished as the *result* of an event".

The first requires that the event directly cause the demolition. The second requires only that it start the sequence of activity that leads to the demolition.

Swapped the "Super attractions: 1" line with the "Total attractions: 5" line.

We'd received questions about whether the super attractions are included in the attraction limit or not. The rulebook answered that, and it answers it even more emphatically now, but we also thought that putting the "Total attraction" limit last would help to make that clearer. Better to reprint only 6 cards now than change it later and need to reprint 10, or 14, or...
